I am a graduate student of Mathematical Application in Economics and Finance Specialist at Oxford University. There are relatively few finance-related courses in the school curriculum, and the opportunities I had to enter the financial industry was very limited, so I decided to take the CFA certificate. At that time, Risklab’s CFA program had five financial practitioners in different sector’ fields as lecturers, and they showed students their own unique industry insights during their class. Compared with other institutions, we had the advantages of networking and industry insight, and it was also helpful for the exam. Passing the first-level exam helped me apply for MMF Master of Mathematical Finance at the university of Toronto. I could show my financial background knowledge to the admissions party, and I could discuss relevant interview questions with the examiner smoothly. As a widely accepted certificate in the industry, it was also very helpful for me to find internships, especially during the written examination and interviews of the internship.

Taking the CFA curriculum at Risklab has positively influenced me on both academic and professional trajectory. I am currently a data analyst in the industry, and I took the CFA curriculum during my third year of university. Back then, it was a weekly class, the lecturers that Risklab invited were all financial professionals with outstanding achievements from the industry. The books we used in class were specially compiled by the lecturers based on the content of the exam and their own experience. It was clear and straightforward. Both lecturers and TAs were very responsible in and off class. Aside from the main lectures, another reason why I would recommend this curriculum is Risklab introduces research/internship opportunities as well as plenty of events meeting professionals from financial and data science industries to its students. I got my first internship opportunity introduced by Prof. Peng during the last year of school and it is known how difficult for an international student with no Co-op nor PEY background getting the internship opportunity in data science. I really appreciate what I gained from this CFA curriculum. It is well-designed for the CFA exams as well as discovering the financial/ fintech industries.
